PALS chorus is looking for new members who love to rock to carry our concerts out into the community. If you’ve ever seen the multi-award winning documentary Young At Heart, you’ll appreciate that we are a chorus of seniors – 55 and over – delivering an unexpected and rousing repertoire. We sing pop songs by Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and Lorde and wink at our ages with Doo Wop. We also address the tender side of life with songs like The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel and Let It Go from Frozen.
Our director, the highly respected choir master Lonnie Delisle, creates our programs with imagination and conducts with discipline. We may be seniors, but under his guidance, nobody sounds like we’re crooning on a cruise ship to Alaska. When we sang Jingle Bells at Christmas it was crisply riffing on the music from The Nutcracker Suite. We have fun, but this is no casual drop-in choir. New recruits, even if they have no extensive choral experience – although this would be much appreciated – must be dedicated to attending rehearsals, be able to sing on key, able to memorize lyrics and appreciate the delight of delivering music that is crisp and precisely right. We often get standing ovations.
