PAL Vancouver is delighted to take part in this year’s 38th Annual Pride Parade. Located in Coal Harbour, PAL is a residence of 111 suites, topped by PAL Studio Theatre and a stunning rooftop garden. The majority of our residents are seniors in the performing arts.
This year’s Pride participation also marks one of a number of events celebrating PAL’s 10th Anniversary. Earlier this summer we marked our anniversary at our AGM, and on July 1 hosted a free pancake breakfast with entertainment for our Coal Harbour neighbours.
Our float features the garden theme, with grass, trees, one of our dedicated benches and a rainbow. Judy Ginn Walchuk—who with her brother Jim shares a BC Entertainment Hall of Fame plaque in downtown Vancouver’s Star Walk (the Judy & Jim Show ran on CBC TV in the mid-70s)—will be a featured vocalist on the float, along with another resident performer, David Avalon, and joined by another dozen residents.
PAL Vancouver’s mission is to provide veterans of Vancouver’s performing arts industry with affordablehousing within a vibrant and creative community setting. Consistent with research on healthy aging, PAL Vancouver offers so much more than social housing—providing residents with both a safe, affordable home and a supportive dynamic environment where they can stay active and creatively engaged in the community.
