Safe Harbour at PAL
We gratefully share with you that no cases of Covid-19 have been reported among our community of 125 residents. In mid-March the theatre was closed to renters and PAL has carefully followed our Provincial Health Officer’s recommendations since then.
When the pandemic was announced younger folks at PAL offered to shop for those who were reluctant to go out. Many nearby grocery stores and pharmacies set aside special hours for seniors. Some residents pulled out sewing machines and made masks for their neighbours using patterns from YouTube. At 7pm residents continue to clang pots and applaud from their balconies to honour health care workers, first responders, and essential staff. Although it has been such an unsettling time, coping with uncertainty and being resourceful are are circumstances that do come naturally to professional performing artists and their creative colleagues.
As a friendly reminder, BC’s call line, 2-1-1 connects senior British Columbians to people who can offer support. Services offered through the 2-1-1 line include meal delivery, help with cooking, delivery of groceries/medications, wellness calls, and visits. Those who wish to request help can phone 2-1-1 or register online for the program here: http://www.bc211.ca
