On December 28, 2021, the Office of the Governor General of Canada announced that Jane Heyman, co-founder of PAL Vancouver and former member of PAL Canada's Board of Directors, has been appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada, "for her long-lasting contributions to Vancouver's cultural landscape through her various roles within the theatre sector."
“Canada is defined by the people that make up this great country. These most recent nominees to the Order of Canada are shining examples of the commitment and outstanding contributions Canadians have made to the well-being of communities throughout this land, whether it be social, environmental, scientific, economic, cultural or related to mental and physical health. To all of the nominees, congratulations and thank you.”
- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada
PAL Vancouver was co-founded by Jane Heyman and Vancouver actor Joy Coghill in 2001, incorporated as a non-profit society in 2002, and became a registered charity in 2004. Later that year, PAL received final approval for the development and lease of an affordable housing project at the foot of Georgia Street beside Vancouver’s famed Stanley Park.
Celebrating 20 years since we first became a non-profit, Jane continues to be a significant and influential member of the artistic community in Vancouver and her support of PAL Vancouver, PAL Canada and the PAL mission across the country.
PAL Vancouver congratulates Jane and her family on this prestigious and most deserving appointment!
